The doctors would be able to determine what causes your diarrhea and the probable solutions to your problems. There are a lot of things that can cause diarrhea after eating.
Normally, the food we take in gets digested and passes through the body in 10 to 24 hours. Whenever you have diarrhea after you just ate, the stool you pass out is not the food you just ate. Watery stool is not normal and we only have it whenever the normal body process gets disrupted. The intestines are responsible for absorbing excess water from our stool before it passes out. This process prevents the body from being dehydrated. At the same time, this process also makes sure that electrolytes, like Sodium and Potassium, do not get eliminated in our stool. Our body needs these electrolytes for other process it undergoes. There are certain conditions that could lead to diarrhea after eating. Some of the most common causes are listed below.
1. Irritated Bowel Syndrome –The irritated bowel syndrome can cause either diarrhea, constipation or an alternate of both. In this condition your digestive tract gets irritated and the result is a disruption in the normal digestive process. This syndrome can be caused by a lot of factors. One of the factors is due to the process of eating itself. When we eat, especially if we eat a large meal, our stomachs or intestines stretch. This stretch can be cause of the irritation. It could signal your lower intestine that it needs to defecate. This is why you feel a sudden urge to use the bathroom after about half an hour after eating.
2. The food we eat – It is not just the amount of food that we eat that could cause diarrhea after eating. The type of food that we eat could also cause the occurrence of diarrhea. Lactose intolerance is one of the main food intolerance that most people have. In this condition, the body cannot digest lactose. This also causes irritation in your digestive tract and eventually causes diarrhea. If you had a large amount of dairy products lately, this might have caused your diarrhea. Other people use enzymes to help to with this problem. Other people just avoid dairy products to prevent diarrhea from occurring. This is not just limited to lactose containing products; there are other forms of sugar that other people cannot digest. In addition to this, there are also other foods where other people are allergic to. You should always check on what you eat.
3. Bacterial and viral infection. If we do not check our hygiene or do not prepare our food well, there is a high risk that we could get infected with bacteria and viruses. The bacteria and viruses will enter our body and cause a variety of disease. One of which is diarrhea. The bacteria are capable of producing toxins that could irritate our digestive tract. Proper hygiene should be observed. In addition to this, you could also take some good bacteria for your intestine. They are also called probiotics. They are the type of bacteria that help the proper functioning of your digestive tract.
The viruses can also cause irritation to your digestive tract. They capable of causing inflammation that will lead to diarrhea. If it is not treated immediately, it may cause dehydration and even death.
4. Chrons disease – This is an autoimmune disease that includes genetic and environmental factors to occur. This disease is more common in people who are in their early 20’s up to their 40’s. People who smoke cigarettes are also observed to be more prone in this disease. In Chrons disease, a part of the digestive tract gets inflamed. When the digestive tract is irritated, diarrhea is more likely to occur. With the addition of food intake, the digestive tract stretches and becomes more irritated that is why diarrhea after you have eaten could be observed.
